What Building in Sisters Involves
Projects inside city limits are permitted through the City of Sisters; rural properties outside the boundary go through Deschutes County. We sort that out early, because plan review, setbacks and inspection scheduling all follow from it.
Sisters is known for its Western-themed architectural design standards, which apply most visibly to the commercial core. Even on residential work, exterior material and detail choices that respect that character tend to age better and sit more naturally in the neighborhood. We plan siding, trim, roofing and color with that in mind rather than dropping a generic suburban package onto the lot.
Residential work here splits between compact in-town homes and larger rural properties with their own access, water and utility considerations. The two need different planning — a tight in-town remodel is a logistics problem, while an acreage build is a site problem — and we scope them accordingly.
Sisters sits in Central Oregon's high desert with real winter weather. Large freeze-thaw swings, big day-to-night temperature shifts and dry conditions shape how we detail decks, roofs and exteriors — snow load on structures, movement-tolerant finishes and wildfire-resilient material choices where they make sense.
